As you recall, not all that long ago, we brought you a hands-on review of the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Lumière. If you liked the looks of the C60 Trident, but were unsure about the luminous block indices, there are other options in the line. In fact, just in time for summer, they’ve released quite the color combo with the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Reef.

Christopher Ward C60 Trident Reef: what it is
While the Lumière took the C60 in a more upscale direction, the Reef seems to be bringing the watch back to what brought Christopher Ward to prominence: solid designs at a good price point, while also bringing some fun along.
In this case, the fun takes the form of the color. There are five different color schemes being introduced, all inspired by coral reefs. Why? That’s because this is a watch that supports Blue Marine’s 30x30 initiative, with 2% of the Reef sales going towards this project to help preserve the ocean.
Now, CW could have just gone with some splashy dials, and called it a day. However, they did a bit more than that. The color scheme they’ve come up with on the dial has been extended onto the dive bezel as well. Not only that, they’ve come up with a 4-part case construction for this model so you actually have the color extending onto the mid-case as well.
Along with the five different color schemes, you can also opt for one of five different rubber bracelets (color matched or contrast, your choice), or a Bader bracelet with the quite-nice built-in expansion clasp.

What makes this one different from the prior C60
Aside from all the colors, that is. First off, the Reef relies on stainless steel for the case and bracelet, as opposed to the titanium of the Lumière. Additionally, the movement here is a Sellita SW200-1, as opposed to the COSC-rated SW300 of the Lumière. Then, of course, the Reef also does not have the ceramic luminous indices, but still has quite capable SuperLumiNova. In short, it’s using less precious materials, and slightly less-expensive movement.
Wrapping things up
However, taking things down a step in some of the materials means that the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Reef is actually a nicely affordable watch. If you opt for it on the bracelet, the price is $1,035, while going for the rubber strap brings the price down to $850. This is regardless of if you opt for the 41mm or the 44m case. It’s a great addition to the lineup, and for a great cause. Check out the collection, and pre-order yours for delivery later this month, directly over at christopherward.com
