Casio releases a Back To The Future calculator watch that is just what the Doc ordered

With the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future in 2025, Casio is bringing back a fan favorite with a movie twist.

Casio didn’t invent the wrist calculator, but it made the idea cheap, fun, and ubiquitous. The calculator watch became the epitome of pure ’80s cooltech and this new piece by Casio, the $120 CA-500WEBF-1A, hearkens back to the definitive movie of that age: Back to the Future.

Marty’s watch in the films was the plastic CA53W-1 but that didn’t stop Casio from upping the ante a little. The new CA-500WEBF-1A takes the later metal version as its base. The features are the same including an 8-digit calculator, two time zones, a stopwatch, and multiuple alarms. The keypad uses labels inspired by the DeLorean’s time circuits and on the back you get a flux capacitor engraving.

The crazy thing is the packaging which looks like a VHS tape straight out of Hollywood Video. It’s a wild little piece at a great price and I look forward to seeing what my mother says when she sees it at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance.
