Earlier this year, we got more familiar with WITHit, when we reviewed one of their inexpensive smartwatches. Unsurprisingly, they also offer up various smartwatch straps. What is a bit more of a surprise is one of their other offerings, as it’s not watch-related at all. However, as a household of readers, we were happy to go hands on with the WITHit Quad 4 LED Reading Light.
WITHit Quad 4 LED Reading Light: what it is
Well, that’s pretty easy, because it’s right in the name. It’s a clip-on reading light. Used to be you’d see these sorts of reading lights all over the place. Now that more and more people have switched to reading on backlit e-Readers (or their phones), they’ve become less common. However, there is still a time and place for them.
When this came into the house, my youngest immediately claimed it to help with the testing. While she does have a Kindle she can read with, we’ve also got all manner of books in the house, so a light is helpful for reading those when winding down at night. She’s also made good use of it to keep working on Lego creations while we watch a movie, clipping it on to the side of her Lego bin to light up what she’s building.
Basically, think of it as a dimmable flashlight that can clip on to what you need it to be on. Then, with the gooseneck on the device, you can position the light to be where you need it. Shoot, you could even clip this on to a baseball hat brim if you needed to light up something you were working on.

Thoughts from the in-house tester
As I mentioned, I didn’t really put this device to use, it was my youngest who did the work of using it. She really liked how adjustable the light was (including the brightness level), that it fit onto a variety of differently sized books, and how light it was to carry.
When I asked her what she didn’t like about the light, there was nothing she could come up with. Showing a knack for potentially being a reviewer, though, she did have some thoughts on what she would change or improve on. She wouldn’t mind some other color options (and WITHit does have some). From a design perspective, she thinks something less-angular could be interesting, as well as shortening the gooseneck some to take up less space.
Wrapping things up
The WITHit Quad 4 LED Reading Light is a versatile reading light, as we discovered, and it takes just 3 AAA batteries to run it. On the LEDs, that means it should last a good long time. Whether you’re reading regular books, working on a project, or maybe even using it with a non-backlit eReader, there’s a variety of ways it can be put to work. If you’d like to pick one up, they’re going for just $19.99 directly from withitgear.com.
