traser P96 OdP Color introduces spectralight
Bold color, day or night
Our friends over at traser produce one of our very favorite passive pieces of technology on a watch: tritium tubes. Bright lume is fun, but the reliability (not to mention the different hues) of tritium are hard to deny. The only “problem” with them is that you don’t see the colors in bright light. Well, now there’s a watch that gives you the color hit in the daytime: the traser P96 OdP.

traser P96 OdP Color: what it is
As with most traser watches, the traser P96 OdP Color contains a Swiss quartz movement, which provides reliable accuracy and an innate resistance to the watch banging around. The case protecting the movement is a glass-reinforced polymer, which keeps things light and tough. You get a sapphire crystal up top, and that is surrounded by a uni-directional bezel to track elapsed time, with a tritium tube of it’s own.
What about this spectralight stuff?
The details listed on the site are a bit thin, but what it seems to be, is that some of the tritium tubes are tinted. You can see that in the photo above, where the red tubes are red even in full light, while the green- and white-glowing tubes are white in the daylight. So, it’s not inherently a change to how tritium works, but instead working with the existing materials. While it may not be a fit for every watch, there are definitely cases where the additional pops of color help elevate a design. In this case, it’s a way to get things aligned to the NATO strap, and giving some additional style to to a handy outdoors tool.

Wrapping things up
The traser P96 OdP is available now, in either a black or sand dial, both set into a black case. Depending on the particular strap that you select for the watch, it’ll run you $475 - $490. Check out all the details, and order yours, directly over at traser.com
