The Swiss still lead the world in luxury spending, and that matters for watches

A new study suggests that Switzerland remains the world’s most luxury-obsessed country, a finding that should not surprise anyone who follows the watch industry.

The report, released by vintage handbag marketplace Fashionica, ranked 20 countries using a “Luxury Love Index” that combined annual spending on luxury goods, online searches for luxury brands, and market growth over the past five years. Switzerland topped the list with a score of 96, ahead of Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.
