Sjöö Sandström Annual Edition 2025
This time around, it's a chronograph
Every year, our favorite Swedish brand, Sjöö Sandström, releases a special “Annual Edition” watch. It’s a different watch most years, and offers some changes as compared to the regular production watch it’s based off of. For the Sjöö Sandström Annual Edition 2025, they took their Royal Steel Chronograph, and made some changes.
Sjöö Sandström Annual Edition 2025: what it is
For this design, they collaborated with the design firm Claesson Koivisto Rune. They started with the Royal Steel Chronograph, and then mixed it up. The significant change here is the dial. Here, it’s done in a matte black, and the polished applied indices are done away with.
Additionally, the subdials have changed from being contrast-color insets to flat on the dial, with the circles and marks done in a thin white line. Additionally, the date window has been moved from 6 o’clock over to about 7:30 (it’s also changed from a square opening to a circle).
The handset has also lost the small luminous insert the original had, and even the tachymeter scale has been massaged a bit. It’s less prominent than the original, but still quite usable. It also has the 86 highlighted, denoting the year when Sjöö Sandström started up.
Wrapping things up
So, as you can see, this one is all about the dial, and it is quite a crisp, minimalist take on what a chronograph needs to be functional. As with the prior Annual Editions, only 86 of these are being made.
