Power Panda Vector: funding now
An affordable wandering hour complication
When it comes to wandering hour complications, we’re used to see those more in the luxury brands, from companies like URWERK and Audemars Piguet. As with so many things in the watch world, those complications are becoming easier to produce, and as such, we can see them in some much more affordable presentations, such as with the Power Panda Vector.
Power Panda Vector: what it is
On paper (and without photos), you might be feeling underwhelmed by a 48.5mm titanium-case watch that houses a Miyota 9039 under the dial. Especially when you realize the case is 16.6mm thick (commonly seen on dive watches), yet it only offers a 5ATM WR rating. So, what’s going on here?
Well, that’s where the photos really come into play. Over on the right-hand side of the case, you’ve got the minutes scale printed. Then, there’s a hand (three of them, actually) that point at the minute. The hour is indicated on that hand (see the photo below). So, it’s a unique way to display the time. Where things get really fun is when the hour on the hand rotates (each hand displays 4 hours), giving a bit of kinetics to the time display.
Wrapping things up
Along with the overall design approach, they’re also offering the Power Panda Vector in a wide variety of styles. First, you have to decide if you want the standard version (which does have luminous paint on the numbers), or if you want the lumed version, which turns the hour and minute surfaces into fully-luminous areas. Then, within those, you’ve got a wide range of color choices (you can see those down below).
Given the unique style, it’s not surprising that the campaign is fully funded with just a few days to go (it closes out on April 10, 2026 at 8am Central). Early-bird pricing has you getting one of these at $439, with shipping anticipated for later this year. Check out the campaign over at Kickstarter, or over at powerpanda.com
