While a lot of attention - at least here in the States - is on the 4th of July, we can’t ignore the fact that our friendly neighbors to the north are celebrating their own day - Canada Day - today. To celebrate along with them, Marathon has released a limited-edition version of their 41mm Pilot’s automatic watch.
What’s ADANAC all about?
Well, that’s a bit of clever branding that Marathon has done on a number of their different watches. In short? It’s Canada, but spelled backwards. As a result, it’s a perfect way to mark this watch. Here’s some of the other changes that they’ve made from their prior 41mm automatic Pilot’s watches:
The Dial: A crisp Arctic white backdrop adorned with a red maple leaf, inspired by the centre of the flag.
The Bezel: A striking red bezel wraps the dial, just like the flag’s outer bars
The Strap: Red and white nylon with blue accents, a tribute to the flag’s colourway and the blue skies the flag and Navigators fly in.
The Crown: Adorned with the maple leaf, honouring an emblem that’s united a nation for decades.

It’s also celebrating something else
That’s right - this watch is not just for Canada Day. It’s also marking 60 years since the Canadian flag - as we know it today - appeared in the world. Nowadays, that maple leaf is instantly recognizable, and likely identifies some of the friendliest travelers you’re likely to run across.
Wrapping things up
If you want to put one of the Marathon ADANAC Red Maple SSNAV-D on your wrist this summer, you’re going to want to move quick. Only 500 of these are being made, at a price of $1,280. If you’re not about the maple leaf, but like the general style, the other designs are available from $1,200 - $1,400. Us, we rather like the bright, cheerful nature of this version.
