Luminox announces a gunmetal watch to support the Navy SEAL Foundation
Luminox has added a darker, more tactical model to its Navy SEAL Foundation 3220 Series, and this one leans hard into the brand’s military-adjacent DNA.
The new XS.3228.NSF uses a full IP Gun stainless steel case and matching bracelet, giving the watch a darker, less reflective look than the standard steel models. Luminox is framing the finish as a nod to mission-ready equipment and the “silent professional” mindset associated with the Navy SEAL community. In watch terms, that means a blacked-out steel tool watch with a little more polish than the usual resin-cased Luminox fare.
The watch comes in a 43mm stainless steel case with a solid unidirectional rotating bezel, screw-down crown, engraved screw-in caseback, and 200 meters of water resistance. That puts it firmly in everyday dive-watch territory, though the styling is more tactical than aquatic. The bracelet is also finished in the same IP Gun treatment, so the whole package feels cohesive rather than like a black case tossed on a random strap.
The dial is where the Luminox signature shows up. The blackout treatment gives the Luminox Light Technology tubes room to stand out, with ice blue and gold LLTs used for contrast and low-light readability. That “Always Visible” concept remains the brand’s core pitch, and it is still the reason people buy Luminox watches. Unlike standard lume, the tritium-style tubes do not need to be charged by sunlight or a flashlight, which makes them useful in actual low-light conditions rather than just in wrist shots.
The Navy SEAL Foundation collection also has a charitable angle. Luminox has collaborated with the Navy SEAL Foundation since 2020, and the series supports the Foundation’s work providing assistance to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families.
The new model does not reinvent Luminox. It does something more useful. It takes a familiar 3220 Series shape and gives it a stealthier, more refined execution, with enough steel and bracelet presence to make it feel like a serious daily watch rather than a pure field instrument.
If you want the classic lightweight Luminox experience, this probably is not the one to get. If you like the brand’s illumination system but want something with more weight, more metal, and a darker tactical look, the XS.3228.NSF makes a lot of sense.
