In review: The Mudita Radiant
The Mudita Radiant isn’t a hard watch to love. It’s bold and legible and well made and looks great on the wrist, the design giving something closer to a school clock or railways timer than a traditional wristwatch.
Created in Poland by Michał Kiciński, the watch went through a €57,120 Kickstarter that shipped successfully and turned into a full online brand. The watch is Swiss made but has an almost alien style in a world full of busy watches covered in writing and bezels.
The coolest part? Kiciński’s back story.
Kiciński is a Polish entrepreneur and technology founder best known as the co-founder of CD Projekt, the global games company behind The Witcher franchise. Fascinated by computers as a child in 1980s communist Poland, he saved for years to buy his first machine, then began selling computer games as a teenager. In 1994, at age 20, he co-founded CD Projekt, helping build it into an international success through localized game publishing and eventually original development. After years of rapid growth, financial crisis, and intense personal strain, Kiciński stepped back from day-to-day leadership following a transformative Vipassana meditation retreat. He went on to focus on health, mindfulness, and conscious living, launching ventures including the vegan restaurant Wegeguru and supporting meditation centers in Poland and abroad. He later founded Mudita, a technology company dedicated to creating minimalist, human-centered devices designed to reduce digital overload, including the ultra cute Kompakt, an e-ink phone. This is one of their first watches.
What is it?
The $699 Mudita Radiant in Natural White is a thoughtful take on the classic field watch, and it stands out by blending Swiss mechanics with clean, intentional design. At its heart sits the Swiss Sellita SW200 Elaboré automatic movement. It delivers up to about 41 hours of power reserve and aims for everyday precision you can rely on without fuss.
The dial is probably the most striking aspect of this watch. This model has a soft white tone with a full 12-digit layout and a custom Mudita font that prioritizes legibility. Big Super-LumiNova BGW9 on the hands and indices means you can read the time instantly, even in darkness, and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating keeps glare at bay.
Case finishing leans into durability and everyday wearability. Brushed surgical-grade 316L steel resists scratches and corrosion, while a slim profile around 10 mm lets the watch slip under a cuff with ease. There’s a crown guard for extra protection, Incabloc shock resistance to safeguard the movement, and 10 ATM water resistance for rain, showers, and casual swims.
Straps are quick-release textile with a solid buckle, engineered for comfort and easy swaps without tools. The absence of a logo on the dial keeps the aesthetic calm and uncluttered, with only a subtle lotus etched on the crown as a quiet signature.
Available in multiple sizes (32 mm, 37 mm, 40 mm), this Natural White version leans into versatility. It evokes the Mondaine Swiss Railways watch, which is definitely a compliment given that brand’s pedigree.
The Bottom Line
The Mudita Radiant is a unique watch. It’s not flashy and it’s not particularly special, especially at $699. But given its pedigree and careful design, I can definitely afford it a second look. If you’re into clean, calming lines and great finish along with Mudita’s general philosophy of mindfulness, this is definitely a watch for you or the guru in your life. It might be an acquired taste, but it’s quite lovely and well worth a look.
