G-SHOCK GBA950: new models announced
We’ve talked about the G-SHOCK GBA950 lineup before, and we think they’re a great part of the catalog. You get the legendary G-SHOCK toughness and style, with a dose of activity tracking and phone connectivity built in to bring it in to modern tastes. Today, two new versions of the G-SHOCK GBA950 were just announced, in time for summertime workouts.
G-SHOCK GBA950: what’s new
Two new models were released today: the GBA950-1A (in black) and GBA950-7A (in mint green). The big news with these models is that Casio partnered with OUTSENSE to come up with an origami-inspired design for the band, to have a more comfortable fit.
Along with out-of-the-box Strava compatibility, they’ve redesigned some elements on the dial – and added functionality – to further help you quantify your activity:
Distance measurement
Auto Lap tracking
Bluetooth® connectivity
Detailed activity tracking.
Step counting begins automatically, with daily totals displayed on the LCD screen and a progress indicator at 12 o’clock to help users stay on track with their fitness goals.
The watch is powered by a standard coin cell battery, so it’s not something you’ll be getting alerts on your wrist from the phone. The Bluetooth is just there to send data over to your phone. Then again, you are getting two years of battery life, so we’d say that’s a win.
Wrapping things up
Basically, if you’re looking for a casual ana-digi watch that can do all the things, plus adds in some basic activity tracking (ie, how much did I actually move today), it would be hard to argue against the G-SHOCK Move lineup. These newest G-SHOCK GBA950 come in at $150, and look to be compact and comfortable. Check them out, and order yours, directly at casio.com
