Watch out for poison dart frogs

G-SHOCK is certainly no stranger to bold colors. When you look across their Master of G lineup, you see that it’s mostly conservative color palettes used, or perhaps a single bold color. With this latest one, the G-SHOCK Frogman GW8200TPF-1, they’ve pulled inspiration from the three-striped poison dart frog.

G-SHOCK Frogman GW8200TPF-1: what it is

Well, it’s a G-SHOCK, so you know it’s got that legendary shock resistance courtesy of the layered construction. Being a Frogman, that means it’s built for water duty. This means a WR rating of 200m, and a whole host of functionality specific to diving (see the specs down below).

The poison dart frog (their poison was used on darts; the frogs themselves don’t shoot darts) motif is why you’ve got the bright, neon green stripes across the strap and case. Furthermore, they’ve applied a textured finish of the top of the pattern, mimicking a frog’s skin.

Wrapping things up

While a lot of the Master of G watches can feel overly serious, the G-SHOCK Frogman GW8200TPF-1 feels like much more of a fun design. Sure, poison darts are serious, and the watch itself is built to handle difficult duties. Still, those bright green stripes bring a lighter touch to the design that we like to see. Want to get one?
