Bulova Super Seville Mini: now available
Classic looks for smaller wrists
Now, if there’s one style detail across a variety of brands and watches that I can pretty reliably like, it’s going to be a fluted bezel. These feature prominently on that Swiss brand with a crown, of course, but they’re far from the only brand. In fact, Bulova has them on their square-cased Super Seville. If you’re a fan of those bezels as well, but want something a bit more compact, the Bulova Super Seville Mini could be what you’re looking for.
Bulova Super Seville Mini: what it is
Well, no surprises here - it’s right in the name. Take that iconic Bulova Super Seville design, and shrink it down. While the original re-release features at 37.5mm case, the new Mini version comes in at 25mm. Accordingly, the bracelet shrinks down to fit the case.
There are two other major changes. For one, the Mini does not feature the high-accuracy precisionist quartz movement, and instead goes for a more common quartz movement. This movement also drops the date complication, which means the date magnifier is gone from the crystal. Which you know what? We’re fine with, as a date display would have been tiny in this design.
Past that, it’s the same squared-off look with the fluted bezel that is just a delight in how it captures and plays with light. While the text on the brand’s site has these indicated as being for women, we say they’re for anyone who wants - or prefers - a more compact watch. With the case/bracelet colors and dial treatments, these are watches that would work for anyone.
Wrapping things up
If you’re looking to get one of these on your wrist (on it’s own, or even as part of a couples pairing with the original Super Seville), you’ll be looking at a price of $495 for the two silver-tone versions, or $575 for the gold-tone design. Basically, shrinking things down knocks a few hundred bucks off the price. Of course, there are plenty of the original size case as well, even their special Year of the Horse design.
