Bulova marks the America's 250th with a new diver
Bulova has put real details behind its Sail4th 250 release, and the result is a straightforward sport watch with a strong visual hook. The reference is 98B474. It ties into the July 2026 tall ship events around New York and New Jersey, organized by Sail4th 250, and marks the brand’s 150th year.
The case measures 41 mm and uses a white hybrid ceramic construction with a one way rotating bezel and ratcheting topring. The dial is red, with luminous hands and markers. It reads clean and direct, no clutter, no excess text beyond what is needed. The crystal is a double curved mineral box style, which gives some vintage shape without the cost of sapphire. Water resistance is rated to 100 meters, enough for swimming and light water use. The watch costs an affordable $375.
The watch runs on Bulova’s 2115 quartz movement. This is a simple three hand setup with date, rated to about 15 seconds per month. No pretense here. It is reliable, easy to service, and fits the tool watch direction. The strap is rubber, HNBR, with a 20 mm lug width and a wire style buckle. That choice keeps the watch light and practical.
There is a historical thread running through the release. Timekeeping and navigation have always been linked, long before GPS. Sail4th leans on that idea, and Bulova’s own early ads used maritime imagery. The brand will also appear at events and at the exhibition hosted by the South Street Seaport Museum.
The design will not be for everyone. A red dial and white case stand out. That is the point. If you want something quiet, this is not it. If you want a summer watch tied to a real event, with clear specs and no fuss, this one makes sense.
