Some watches earn their place in history by doing the job they were built to do. The Benrus Sky Chief was one of them.

In the 1930s, after early aviation models like the Flyer and Pilot, Benrus developed the Sky Chief as a dedicated cockpit chronograph. It was not a dress watch adapted for flight. It was built for navigation. The original stood out for its highly domed crystal and slim bezel, which created a porthole effect that improved legibility in the air. The tri-compax layout became a favorite among aviators, and the minute counter featured aeronautical graduations for cruise and navigation calculations.
