Here at WWR, we like what Zodiac has been doing. They’ve been having a lot of fun with colors on some of their models, and they keep iterating and making adjustments to some of their iconic looks. Perhaps the most recognizeable is the Super Sea Wolf with it’s triangular indices (review). If you felt steel was just too pedestrian for your collection, you’re in luck, as they’ve got a new version in titanium.
What is the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Titanium Skin Diver?
Simply put – the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Titanium Skin Diver is the same watch that we reviewed last year (seen here), but done up with a titanium case, rather than steel. Now, we like titanium, as it’s light and strong, and can often give a different color profile, depending on the grade and finishing. Here, paired to that deep navy dial, looks top notch.
Has anything else changed?
The other thing to note here is that the movement has gone from the STP1-11 to the STP1-21. Actually, they’re not using the -11 anymore, and the -21 has taken it’s place. While power reserve has decreased (from 44 hours to 41 hours), this was done to increase the accuracy of the movement. If that plays out in the real world, then it seems like a reasonable tradeoff. Also, as you can see in the photo above, the original orange lume has been replaced with blue.
How much does the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Titanium Skin Diver cost?
Considering that the steel precursor to the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Titanium Skin Diver came in at $1,195, you won’t be surprised to know that this version – with the updated materials, strap, and movement – comes in at a healthy $1,795. Just be sure to hold some money back in the budget for additional straps, as this looks like it could be a fun platform and color palette to play around with additional textile options. zodiacwatches.com
