That”s right, our latest and greatest recurring edition is back to bring you some highlights that I”ve found from around the web this week, as well as showing you what”s been popular on our own pages.  Read on to see what I”ve found for you.

Hodinkee-Longines

Over at Hodinkee, Ben Clymer regales us with a tale of his latest vintage purchase.  As it turns out, it is a pretty rare piece from the Longines back catalog, and he shows the legwork needed to be done to validate a piece like this when you”re purchasing site unseen.  Of course, even a high-profile guy like Ben gets burned now and again, and this piece had it”s own surprises. You can check out his writeup .

Our next article comes from a blog that isn”t focused on watches, per se, but on what you have on your person every day – aka, every day carry (EDC).  In this article at Every Day Commentary, John gives a nice overview of watches.  He touches on fashion watches, quartz vs. mechanical movements, place of manufacture, styles,  and so on – it”s a great read.  While folks who”ve been around watches for quite some time might not gain much from the article, I think it”s a good primer for those who are just starting out.

Now, back to our own pages.  For the article that came back from our archives, we”ve got our review of the Swiss Eagle Altitude.  I liked the white-dialed three hander, noting that it was an affordable that offered some details you don”t often see at this pricepoint (such as that lumed logo up at 12 o”clock).

Ernst-Benz-Chronodiver (4)

For the most popular post of this week (so far), we”ve got the Ernst Benz Chronodiver review.  This is definitely on the luxury end of the spectrum, but if that”s what you”re looking for, the use of blue and white on this watch (including that great sharkskin strap) is superb.  Not to mention it”s powered by the lovely Valjoux 7750 – all in all, a watch I was glad to see cross my desk.

And that brings us to the end of this weeks wrapup.  But wait, there”s more!  You see that image up at the top?  That”s just something random I grabbed off of an image search.  If you think you can help us come up with something better, send me an email.  If we can work something out, I”ll rustle something cool out of my watch stuff in appreciation for your help.
