Welcome back to our weekly installment, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were. Today we’ve got a look at a new world timer from Christoper Ward, an overview of some high-end watches celebrating the year of the horse, and then a look at a few of our most popular articles of the week.
The Christopher Ward C900 WorldTimer generated a lot of interest when it was first introduced, and for good reason. They’ve developed a new way of telling us where in the world we’re tracking our second time zones. By modifying an ETA 2893 movement, they’ve enabled an airport code display (up at 12 o’clock) and a city indicator (a red pip will appear on the world map on the dial), along with the main GMT hands and more mundane things like, oh, telling you the local time. Hodinkee recently spent some time with the watch, and have a full rundown here.
Over at the newcomer site Quill & Pad, they put together an article covering some high-end watches that could be considered as honoring the year of the horse. For those not familiar, we just recently hit the Chinese lunar new year, and entered the year of the horse. If you’re curious how horses can be incorporated into luxury timepieces, head on over here and have a look.
Turning back to our own pages, we’ve got a couple of new watch introductions that caught my (and your) eye. First up, we’ve got a brand we haven’t written about too much, Void, with their new automatic, the V03M. This is a watch we’re working to get a sample in for a true hands-on review; in the meantime, head on over to our article to get a feel for this new 36mm watch. And yes, I know they showed up in last week’s wrapup as well. But, so long as you showed the interest, I think it’s beneficial to bring it up again for other likeminded watch folks.
Last, but certainly not least, we’ve got some watches from a brand that previously has only really been known for their really great straps. Since our review of one of those straps, they’ve expanded into a whole host of really nice-looking leather goods, as well as their first foray into watchmaking. When we wrote our overview earlier this week, they only had 3 of the original 20 left. If you’re interested in picking one up, you’ll want to move fast, or else bid your time for the MK2 which is in the works.
