Welcome back to our weekly installment, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week, as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were.  In this edition, we’ll take a look at how you should read the bezel of your watch, how the GMT (or travel) watch came to be, a look at a review from 2012 that proved popular this week, and, finally, a few Rolex articles that were of interest.

Over at Gear Patrol, they’ve put together a very handy guide for how to do something I’m guessing quite a few people don’t know how to do – utilize and read the bezel of their watch.  Some are more simple (such as the count-up, GMT, and tachymeter bezels), but they also get into the more complex ones like the compass and slide rule.  If you’ve got a watch with any sort of functional bezel, this is one article worth a read.  source

Next, over at DreamChrono, they’ve got an article that covers what has become one of my favorite complications – GMT and/or World Time.  Why I feel drawn to these particular watches I haven’t quite put my finger on as of yet.  Regardless, they’re handy little critters, even if you don’t find yourself criss-crossing the globe that often (and if you do, well, there you go).  Their article gives a brief intro into how the category came into being, and then skims through some of the variations of the two types (GMT or World Time).  source

Now, we’ll turn our attentions back to our own pages.  First up, we’ve got a great quartz piece that I reviewed from Australian brand Bausele almost two years ago (my, how time flies).  This was a particularly fun watch with a lot of great, smaller touches.  If you missed the review the first time around, definitely check it out (part 2 is here).  And, lest you think we’re ignoring them, we covered their new automatic back in January.

This week also proved that Rolex was rather interesting to you this past week.  The first one wasn’t that unsurprising, as we covered a Rolex that survived a WWII POW Camp in our Historical Horology series this past Sunday.  Going hand in hand (and all but tied in terms of traffic this week) was an article from mid-last year that covered the history of Rolex (you can see that here), also in our (you guessed it) Historical Horology series.

And that wraps things up for this week!  As always, if you feel there’s something that we should be covering (either in these wrapups, or as a full-blown article), feel free to drop me a note.
