As we’ve seen in prior Versace articles and reviews, the Medusa head has long been an icon that appears on Versace watches. Why that figure? Well, it was something that Gianni Versace felt would embody a bold and powerful image (more on that here), and so here we are. The boldest interpretation we’ve seen on a watch is on the Versace Hera.

Versace Hera: what it is

Styling icons aside, the Versace Hera is a compact quartz watch, coming in at 37mm (and 12.4mm thick). This means that it aimed more for the smaller wrists out there, or those who just want a less-bulky watch on their wrist. We’d also venture to say that this is a watch that is less about timekeeping as it is appearance.

Yes, the Swiss Ronda quartz movement will stay accurate, that’s not the issue. It’s just that the sculptured Medusa head is prominently displayed, obscuring a majority of the handset surface area. You’ll get the time, but this definitely one more for the aesthetic.

You can opt for it on the steel bracelet or a leather strap; we’re also seeing some other dial colors available in the product pages, rather than the green we have in our photos here. You can get yours for $1,550 either from Neiman Marcus or of course at versace.com
