While I may not necessarily be a fan of yellow gold (as a color), I certainly don’t mind it on a two-tone bracelet, so long as the accents that go along with it aren’t too overdone. And, in my book, the Versace Greca Chrono Wave managed to walk that line.

Versace Greca Chrono Wave: what it is

This watch is a quartz chronograph that picks up the iconic look of a triple-register chronograph, complete with the tachymeter bezel around crystal. The handset even looks a bit familiar, though you’ve got the Versace ‘V’ on the hour hand, rather than the Mercedes symbol. Other adjustments to fit to the brand design language include the wave pattern on the bezel and dial, as well as the Medusa head at 12 o’clock.

The overall aesthetic

When you’re going with a design that is as iconic as this one is, the use of some yellow gold fits it rather well. As I mentioned in the intro, this can be easy to overdo. Here, the gold is softened by the dark green of the dial, as well as the black of the bezel insert. Pair those with the silver tone of the stainless steel, and you can have a watch with those flashes of gold that doesn’t feel like it’s being overwhelmed by the gold.
