Ulysse Nardin is definitely an older Maison but that isn’t stopping them from releasing watches that look like they belong on a character in Counter-Strike. Their latest, the Diver Net Ops and Diver Skeleton Ops, are dive watches with standard bezels and a power reserve dial but that are made of recycled steel and, interestingly, repurposed fishing net materials.
From the release:
The original case is made from a 95% recycled stainless steel and its construction features a combination of breakthrough materials that Ulysse Nardin has been pioneering. The side parts and the case-back are composed of Nylo® (60%) and Carbonium® (40%). Nylo is a polyamide formed from upcycled fishing nets, while Carbonium® is a cutting-edge material with exceptional strength-to-lightness properties that is produced using the same carbon fibres found in state-of-the-art aircraft wings and fuselages. In fact, Carbonium® is made using offcuts from the aircraft manufacturing process, reducing its environmental impact by 40% compared to other carbon composites. In addition, this unique material provides a marbling effect to the unidirectional rotating bezel.
Ulysse Nardin’s new capsule collection, featuring the Diver Net OPS and Diver Skeleton OPS, exemplifies the brand’s unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability. These watches not only showcase advanced watchmaking technologies and materials but also embody a mission to protect our oceans. Whether you’re drawn to the sustainable materials of the Diver Net OPS or the avant-garde design of the Diver Skeleton OPS, both models offer a unique blend of style, performance, and environmental responsibility.
The Diver Net OPS is definitely a testament to Ulysse Nardin’s dedication to sustainability and innovation. This high-performance timepiece is touted as the most sustainable sports watch with a manufacture movement on the market. And it looks pretty damn cool.
