Trintec Industries Inc. lays claim to being the first company to produce modern aviation instrument themed watches, dating back 30 years. Now, I don’t want to wade into debate here, but they make a pretty decent argument. And with that, they also make a pretty cool looking watch. With their current Kickstarter campaign, they are also making two interesting 30th anniversary watches, the altimeter inspired 9060SE and the airspeed indicator inspired 9061SE.
Both watches share common characteristics, a 316 PVD coated stainless steel case with a square-ish design coming in at 42mm x 42mm and 15mm high with a screw down crown. The watches are powered by a 21 jewel 8215 Miyota automatic movement with a 40 hour power reserve. A scratch resistant AR coated sapphire crystal is up front, along with an exhibition caseback, and the watches come on silicone straps. The whole unit is water resistant to 10 ATM. Both watches are very masculine and should generate interest, but they are not too large or too outlandish.
Along with the watches, each pledge also secures a matching travel alarm clock, as shown above. Trintec offers the Zulu-03 Altimeter on their site for $450 US, which lacks the 9060SE’s color and has a mineral crystal, with the same movement. That makes this project an especially good deal if the styling of the watch interests you. The project is less than a day old and they have already reached close to 50% of their funding goal. I do expect this watch to make it, so if you are interested, try top grab an early bird deal and same a little $, even if it is CAD. With the exchange rate, the total in USD for the project with shipping should be around the same as the CAD price. Also, since this is a project from a wath company that already is producing watches, I am far less concerned about the risks (though this still is a Kickstarter campaign). delivery is slated for November, so this might make a great holiday gift for the aviation fan in your life. trintec.com
