If you were to ask me how long ago the 80s were, I’d tell you that it was just the other day, practically. Then you stop and think, and no, the 80s were 40 years ago! So, if you’re feeling a little nostalgic for that era, perhaps the Timex Automatic 1983 E-Line Reissue will help settle you in.
Timex Automatic 1983 E-Line Reissue: the movement
Coming as it does from the 1980s, you’d be forgiven if you assumed the Timex Automatic 1983 E-Line Reissue housed a quartz movement, particularly with its 34mm case. Forgiven, but still incorrect. Just as it did over 40 years ago, this watch houses an automatic movement. This time around, it’s the Miyota 8215 keeping your date and time accurate.
Wrapping things up
The movement is housed in the aforementioned 34mm case, which itself nets out with a 50m WR rating once the domed acrylic crystal and solid caseback are installed. Rounding out the 80s look is the expansion bracelet. The gold-tone version is the newest one, coming in at $229, while the aqua and white dials going for $219. Check them out over at timex.com
