The last time we talked to you about Anicorn Watches and their Trio of Time collection, it was back when the idea was first starting up. They’ve since had other collaborations with interesting designers around the world, and now, the collaboration tour touched down in Barcelona, and the design shop Hey Studio.
Time for Fun: what it is
On a very basic level, the Time for Fun is a quartz-driven two-handed watch, set into a versatile 39mm case that’s just 8.7mm thick and paired to an 18mm wide leather strap. Just reading that text, doesn’t seem like the most exciting watch in the world, right? Well, that’s because we’ve not talked about the most interesting part: the oil-filled display.
An oil-filled display?
When we’ve seen watches that are filled with oil, they’re generally specialist dive watches, and the oil is there in order to minimize any sort of legibility issues. That’s not what is going on here with the Time for Fun, though.
The oil is there as a medium for the additional numerals (1, 3, 7, and 8) to be able to float freely within the display. On one hand, this is to give the wearer the sense that time is free-floating, and it’s ok to be late. On the other hand, it’s also there for a bit of artistic freedom, and to add some, well, fun to a watch. It’s definitely unique, and we’re sure those floating numbers will be fun to watch as you go about your day.
Wrapping things up
The new Time for Fun collection just dropped today, and is available in the three colors that you see in the photos in this article: red, blue, or yellow. You know, the primary three.
