The James Brand × Timex Automatic GMT Emerald Edition: what it is
If you’re thinking that this particular GMT sounds familiar, you’d be right. The The James Brand × Timex Automatic GMT Emerald Edition is a new version of the watch we last wrote about right here. It’s done in titanium, comes in at 41mm, and comes with both a 20mm titanium bracelet as well as a resin strap. What’s all new, this time around, is the emerald green color that takes pride of place on the dial and bezel.
The movement inside
This watch utilizes the Miyota 9075, which is a true, or traveller’s, GMT movement. What this means is that you have a quick-set main hour hand, easily moving forward or backwards.
If you find yourself traveling (or otherwise changing timezones frequently), this easy way to quickly set things to your new local time (without impacting the GMT or minute hands) is a treat. On the other hand, if you’re stationary, then you’ll quickly find out how much you miss having a quick-set date wheel. By that, we mean if you run the movement down, you’ll be resetting the date by spinning that hour hand around the dial to get things correct.
