We’ve reviewed two different models from the G-SHOCK MOVE collection (you can see those here and here), and we wrote about some new colors in the lineup. While these new watches seem like they’d be part of MOVE, they’re actually not. That aside, we’ve got a whole new case shape and color scheme landing, courtesy of the G-SHOCK GMDB300.

G-SHOCK GMDB300: what it is

While it’s not part of the MOVE lineup, the G-SHOCK GMDB300 is still an under-the-radar fitness watch. It doesn’t contain a heart rate sensor, but it will happily track your steps throughout the day (without looking like a fitness tracker). Along with that, you’ve got a whole host of G-SHOCK functionality (just check out the full list down below), as well as their legendary shock resistance.

The aesthetics

In many ways, the G-SHOCK GMDB300 looks a LOT like the very popular Casioak. For me, that’s a good thing, as it’s giving you something different than a round or square case. Along with the new case shape (for the MOVE lineup), we’ve got some interesting colors coming in.

The whole color palette reveals that Casio is leaning into these watches being aimed at women. However, we think that with a 46mm x 43mm case, this is a watch that is suitable for anyone. Sure, that peachy pink might be the one I’d put on my wrist, but the black or dusky green could certainly find a home with me.

Wrapping things up

To summarize it, the G-SHOCK GMDB300 is a solid new addition, giving us a more compact size than you find in other parts of the G-SHOCK collection. We also get some interesting color options, a case profile we’ve not had in the line before, and a whole host of functionality.

Even if you don’t care about the step-tracking, this is still a capable watch, further extended by the connectivity it can have to your watch. If you’re looking for a solid digital watch, and you like the looks, it would be hard to argue against it. All three colors – black, sage green, and mauve pink – are available now for $120.
