The Monaco is kind of growing on me so I was pretty excited to see these three new Tags featuring the Calibre Heuer 02 manufacture movement. The watches, which clock in at 39mm, feature updated styling and bracelets.
?The bracelet is particularly important for any wristwatch ? without a good bracelet, the timepiece lacks desirability. For the new Monaco timepieces, we have alluded to its brilliant past with a familiar design and color while reinforcing that the collection is moving forward with innovative new technology,? said TAG Heuer?s Heritage Director, Catherine Eberl?-Devaux of the new, improved bracelets which are based on the original H-shaped bracelet from the 1970s. The result is a Monaco that is more substantive and heavier.
The bracelets obviously meld better with the Monaco’s classic square case, making the entire thing less jarring than the original models on rubber or leather. These are also a bit smaller, although not by much.
Want some bad news? These guys are speeding into your authorized dealers at $6,350.00 a pop, which is a bit rich for my blood. That said, a sub-$10k manufacture movement is an interesting concept. The watch also comes in two other models including black with black alligator strap and a blue-faced model that will be available on a bracelet. The black models are shipping this month while the blue ships in January.
