Over the years, I’ve become a fan of the watches that Swedish brand Sjöö Sandström has created. The brand started up in 1986, and created the first Landsort in 2011. In 2022, there was a refresh (which we covered here). There was a limited bronze version then, and now, the Sjöö Sandström Landsort 459 – with bronze – is part of the regular collection.
What’s with the 459?
Turns out, there’s a really deep ravine in the Baltic Sea. It’s the Landsort Ravine (hence the watch name), and it goes to a depth of 459 meters. With the watch, this is more than just a number. They actually have it rated for a depth of 459 meters (or 45.9 ATM) – not that you or I are about to see that sort of range. However, for a watch that was developed in conjunction with the Swedish Navy, it makes sense that it’s ready to handle some extremes.

What’s different about this Sjöö Sandström Landsort 459?
The big news for this version of the Sjöö Sandström Landsort 459 is that the case is made of bronze, and is part of the regular collection. While the case itself is made of bronze, the caseback is steel, which should help keep your wrist from turning shades of green. It comes with a bronze bezel, but it also comes with a black sapphire glass bezel that can be swapped in. In my opinion, it looks quite sharp with the sapphire bezel, great combo of bronze and black across the whole thing.

What’s the movement?
Inside the Sjöö Sandström Landsort 459 is the SS G15 movement. It’s labelled as Swiss-made, but we’re not certain who’s making the movement. It does offer up a 50-hour power reserve, which is a tidy amount.

Wrapping things up
While I’ve tended away from larger dive watches personally, the Sjöö Sandström Landsort 459 is one that could have me changing my mind. If you want to pick one up, they’re available now for 47.200 SEK (or just a touch under $4,500), directly from sjoosandstrom.com
