While there are a number of releases we’re going to see from watch shows very soon, Citizen just announced two new models that are not necessarily part of “show season”. The news on the new Citizen Satellite Wave X and a new shade of the Citizen Series 8 880 just came out, and here we are telling you about it.

Citizen Satellite Wave X

The Citizen Satellite Wave X is an evolution of a design that first hit the streets a decade ago (then called the Satellite Wave F100). Hence, that ‘X’ in the name. In terms of an overall aesthetic, we’re thinking this one can go with a single word: angular. The lugless case has a trio of bevels that go down to the integrated H-link bracelet, and even the handset and indices keep things angular.

A closer look at that starfield dial also reveals a stepped, angular turbine look to things on the dial. It’s a clever use of the translucence that they dial has, turning a necessity into a design element. Why is it necessary? Well, for one, it’s an EcoDrive, so it’s powered by light.

Secondly, the Citizen Satellite Wave X relies on talking to the GPS satellites up in the skies to keep on time, so you don’t need a metal dial blank blocking those signals, do you? Speaking of metal, both the case and bracelet are made of titanium, so these should stay nice and light on the wrist. They’re going for $1,550 and you can check out all the details over at Citizen.

Citizen Series 8 880 Limited Edition

If you recall, it was not all that long ago that we reviewed the Citizen Series 8 880 GMT with it’s delightful Pepsi bezel and blue dial. If that wasn’t quite the color scheme you were looking for, then this new version might be where it’s at. It has a much darker color scheme, with a gunmetal finish on the case and bracelet (along with blue accents) and a blue/black GMT bezel.

Just so things are quite so dar, you’ve got a very bright blue for the dial, done up in an always-fun mother-of-pearl. Given the materials and the fact that this is a 100th anniversary model, you won’t be surprised to learn that this is a limited-edition model. Only 2200 are being made at $1,995.
