I find it hard to go wrong with a military, or military-inspired, watch. For starters, you have quite a breadth of designs to choose from, from pilot watches to divers to field watches. Past that, given the emphasis given to the watches on legibility and robustness, it makes for designs that work well in daily wear. Should you be in the market for one yourself, a new collection just hit that is worth a gander – the Hemel Military watch collection.
It has often been said (by yours truly, and others), that Frederique Constant offers affordable, well-built Swiss watches. Those tend to the more conservative, or dressy style; if you are in want of something sportier, then you need to look to stablemate Alpina. They just recently released two new watches in their Alpiner 4 collection, and both are sharp.
Of all the cool Kickstarter designs I’ve seen this year, SaStek seems to take the proverbial cake. Their watch, the…
We have been fortunate to be able to feature a variety of different watch styles for our monthly giveaways, courtesy of the largesse of the brands that we work with. While we do feature a lot of Kickstarter watches on the site, we have not been able to give too many of them away (as they’re generally prototypes). Well, we get to add another one to that select list this month, as we have an opportunity for you to win a CJR Airspeed Regulator.
While we do our level best here at WWR to cover the brands that our readers are interested in – or should be aware of – there are times where some slip through our nets as we trawl what all is out there. One of those brands is Hager. Yes, we have written about them now and again, but we have not focused in on what the brand is offering, nor have we had a chance to go hands-on with anything that the brand was producing. Well, until now, that is. While we are awaiting the release of the Aquamariner to go hands-on with it, we can tide you over with some hands-on impressions of the Hager Commando Professional.
Welcome to our weekly feature, Watching the Web, with this being our last installment of the month. Here, we get to point out interesting watch related articles and reviews on other blogs and news sites, as well as brag about the articles that our readers were most interested in over the course of the last week or so. Peering out across the World Wide Web, I have the Tag Heuer 2016 Mikrograph, a smartwatch from Polar, and a diver from Spinnaker. From our site, we have a bit of a two’fer a new watch out of Estonia plus an interview with the man behind the watch, and a review of the Breitling Chronoliner Blacksteel.
Titanium. Dive Watch. Kickstarter. With those three descriptors, it would seem that we have all the makings for one crazy popular watch. And, judging by the results of the funding project (which finished at 115% of their goal), the popularity has been proven out. While we did not have access to fully-functional versions of the watches the brand was flogging, we did have some pre-production samples in. While funding has closed, we’re certain that these will be hitting some form of retail sales, so read on to see if you’ll be wanting to pick up a titanium Scuro dive watch.
