It seems to be that I am drawn in by classic designs, especially when they are well-executed in more compact packages. If you find yourself in the same boat, then the Archimede 1950’s is one you will want to sit up and take notice of.
We here at WWR have long been fans of what Benarus has been putting together. Much of the lineup is on the beefier side, as you would expect from a boutique-brand diver. The Moray has been prime evidence of this, having been made available in 47mm and 44mm variants. Now, for those of us looking for something a bit more compact, the Benarus Moray is now available – in the 42mm that we have seen in the past, as well as a 40mm variant.
Kickstarter is full of watch projects where the creators claim that they are trying to do something new, or they couldn’t find the watch they wanted so they made their own… To be honest, however, it is rare that these projects are actually really unique. They may be attractive and a good value, but rarely are they unique. Tempest just posted a project that certainly fits the unique bill though. The Tempest One Forged Carbon Watch is not only an attractive watch and a pretty good value, but it is going to be the envy of all your tech-loving friends.
Divers love their orange watches. Well, at least some of them do, since most divers are offered in a variation with an orange dial. According to Doxa, they were the first to use orange as a way to make the dial more readable in low light situations, way back in 1966 (hey, it is as old as I am). But I don’t have over $2,000 for a dive watch, and with the wide range of watches out there, the Prometheus Piranha makes a strong case for being a great choice under $500.
Today, we are going to mix things up a little bit for you. Obviously, Kickstarter watches are not anything new. What is new (or at least different, as of late), is that it will not be Matt covering it. As it turns out, Visitor Watch Co. is a short train ride from Chicago, so its owner, Phil Rodenbeck, hopped on over to give me a hands-on look at the debut models in the Calligraph collection: the Visitor Watch Co. Duneshore.
It is no secret that I am a fan of the watches Magrette creates (my first automatic was a Magrette), and I have also been curiously attracted to using bronze as a case material. Magrette did have an earlier bronze piece, and now they are back with another – the Magrette Vantage.
It feels like it has been quite some time since I wrote about a dive watch (Matt has been covering those more as of late), and I know it has been a good long while since we had Prometheus on our pages. We will address both of those lapses with a talk about the Prometheus Piranha.

Last month, we brought you word of a new addition to the Tissot Visodate line – more precisely, a new bracelet to the lineup. From afar (and the one image that was available), I found myself rather liking the watch. Since then, we were able to spend some time with a sample, so today we are able to bring you a true review of the Tissot Visodate Milanais.
OK, we have already established that cars and watches go together hand in hand, but even more than cars, aviation pairs with watches in a big way. My favorite type of aviation watch is an instrument style, and I want to highlight a new company’s second crowdfunded cockpit instrument watch. The Rhynofit Rubicon is styled after the artificial horizon used to give an indication of level flight in the absence of other cues, say at night or in the fog. As a visual style, I think this inspiration works well as something that is instantly recognizable, but not distracting to the actual reading of the watch.
