Recently Released: Shinola Canfield Speedway Lap 04

Back at Thanksgiving time, we brought you word of the Shinola Canfield Speedway Lap 03. That one was all stealthed out, ready to take you on some nightime racing. Well, now the warmer weather is here, and the classic red, white, and blue color combo is going to picking up steam. If that’s what you’re looking for, then you’ll want to check out the Shinola Canfield Speedway Lap 04.

In terms of what the watch is, it’s the same as the Lap 03 – a bi-compax chronograph powered by the Selitta SW510, an automatic movement that gives you the two-register chronograph and date display. While Shinola calls this design a navy-on-navy look (dial against strap), it’s really those hits of ketchup red and mustard yellow that make the watch feel summery. Keeping the color theme going, they’ve even put some anodized aluminum collars on the pushers that flank the crown.

The red also calls to mind the “redline” on automotive gauges, which ties the Shinola Canfield Speedway Lap 04 to it’s racing aspirations, along with the perforated leather strap (like a pair of driving gloves). Further cementing that, the numerals on the dial also are like a gauge, using the two-digit layout going from 05 to 60.

Even for me, who’s not much for a chronograph, I feel the Shinola Canfield Speedway Lap 04 is a sharp-looking design, definitely ready for a lighter and brighter summer.
