That’s right – just like Ponyboy, G-Shock wants you to stay gold with the latest addition to their G-Steel lineup. And while we’ve seen some watches in the G-Steel line come in firmly in luxury territory, this latest trio they’ve added is definitely much more affordable.
These watches take everything we like about the G-Shock lineup (shock resistance, solar power, and the full complement of digital watch functionality) and wraps it up in a sheathe of golden hue. Of course, gold isn’t for everyone (myself included), they actually have different amounts of that yellow tone on the different watches:
- GSTB100GB1A9: This one has the most gold, with the full case done up as well as the bezel, along with the accents on the dial; this watch display is fully analog
- GSTB400GB1A9 swaps in a black-tone bezel, and starts putting some more digital elements on the dial
- GSTB500BD1A9 is almost primarily black, reserving the gold for accents on the dial
It’s worth noting that all three models do offer connectivity to your phone, which is great for getting the watches setup and going out of the box (after that, the solar power should keep things running quite well), and then the occasional sync throughout the year to account for any drift throughout the year.
While the first model won’t be available until September (which is just around the corner at this point), they are all up for pre-order at this point. For the three models, you’ve got the GSTB100GB-1A9 at $420, the GSTB400GB-1A9 for $390 and the GSTB500BD-1A9 for $380. Check them out at gshock.casio.com
