As Matt mentioned in his last post, quartz watches really need to be something special for him to sit up and take notice.  I think today’s example definitely fits the bill.  Read on to see what he thinks of this very tactile watch he found.

Watches are popping up all over Kickstarter, and though I tend to not be interested in quartz watches, this project is worthy of mention.  See & Touch have created the Bradley (project page), a watch that can be read by sight or touch.  The creators mention its usefulness for movie theaters and client meetings, but I am not sold on that.

For the sight impaired though, this makes for an interesting option over other braille watches.  Instead of popping the crystal open and feeling the hands, this watch uses two ball bearings held in place by magnets instead of conventional hands.  There are raised markings on the face, and since the ball bearings are held in tracks, there is no need for a crystal.  The ‘hands’ are always exposed.

As a novelty, fashion item, or as a functional gift for the sight impaired, the watch is going for $128 for one or $225 for two.  This watch is fully funded, so we should see it hitting the market.
