If you’re aware of Prometheus (or have read our review), you probably have them firmly fixed in your mind as a dive watch company. And to be sure, that’s what their offerings have been, to date. However, they’ve actually got a new style on the horizon, something a good bit dressier.
They’ve called the model the Signatura Day/Date, and it has a lot of nice touches. First off, the dial isn’t just some plain-Jane thing. It’s actually enamel coated, which means it’s going to be long-lasting, as well as giving it some smooth looks. Second, you’ve got an always-nice AR coated (flat) sapphire crystal.
Depending on the color scheme (white with blue hands and black indices or black with chrome hands/indices), you’re getting something that is a classy piece. And I’m quite pleased to note that the day and date displays are color-matched to the dial – so it blends in quite niceley.
It would be easy to say that this watch was inspired by dress pieces from the 50’s or 60’s, and it likely is. It’s been tastefully updated to modern standards, though, with the 42mm case (11mm thick) housing a Sellita SW220 automatic movement with custom rotor.
If you’re interested, the watches are available on their site now, and are retailing for $520 USD outside the EU. Having not seen one up close, it’s harder to tell, of course, but this does seem to be a good price for a very smooth looking watch. Great to see another option hit the scene!
