You know who we haven’t heard from in a long time? moVas, that’s who. Well, that’s more on us than them. moVas has been out there, still creating watches, and they’re back this time with a iteration of a previous model (one we’ve not written about, actually). Meet the moVas Oceaner 3.
As you might guess from the name, the moVas Oceaner 3 is a dive watch, complete with a 300m WR rating, as well as an inner timing bezel. This watch sets itself apart by having a different dual-crown layout than we’re used to. Instead of at 2 and 4 o’clock, we’ve got them at 3 and 9 o’clock. Functionally, it should work just the same, but aesthetically, you’ve got a much more balanced look than a standard dual-crown layout would have.
What I rather like about the moVas designs is the sort of rounded octagon that many of them have for the bezel design. That is in place here, of course, with a brushed finish on top (great for hiding fingerprints) and polished on the sides, giving you a nice pop of light. The remainder of the case has a dual finish as well, brushed and shot peened, giving some unique textures that – again – will hide those fingerprints.
Flip the moVas Oceaner 3 over, and you see the Seagull movement. No surprise, as moVas stands for “Movements of Asia”. While you might not be familiar with the Seagull 2100, the specs should sound familiar – 45-hour power reserve, perlage decoration, antishock protection, and hackable.
In keeping with the chunky look of the case of the moVas Oceaner 3, you’ve got a thick three-link bracelet that goes down to the deployant clasp with a diver extension built in. Want to change it up? No worries there – the watch also comes with a rubber strap, as well as a leather strap that tapers from the 24mm lugs down to 20mm at the buckle.
