If you recall from our prior articles on Peren watches, they like to create designs that draw inspiration from history. This time, they’re going with an stone lunar calendar that can be found in Romania, the Sarmisegetuza Regia, which is how we come to this dual release of the Peren Regia.
By dual release, we mean that there are two versions of the Peren Regia being offered – the standard Peren Regia with a bold day/night bezel, and the Peren Regia X that has a subtler hour/minute track printed on the bezel insert. The bezel itself is rather interesting, as you have circular lines coming down from the insert, and then you have vertical lines on the sides where the bezel meets the case. This then is picked up with the machining on the crown.
I also find the dial of the Peren Regia to be interesting. For starters, they’ve flipped the expected location of the date display, and have placed it at the 12 o’clock position on the dial. Secondly, the luminous indices are actually 3D shapes that are applied to the dial, which gives you some interesting layers, as well as – presumably – quite the light show in the dark.
For all the interesting design tweaks, the Peren Regia is a dive watch. It carries a 200m WR rating to protect the Sellita SW200-1 movement, topped with a sapphire crystal. It does all of this in a fairly compact case, at 39mm and just under 13mm thick. Pricing starts at 693 EUR ($742) for the textile or rubber strap, and goes to 793 EUR ($850) for the stainless steel bracelet. You can pre-order your own, for delivery by the end of the year, directly at perenwatches.com
