In our original review of the Pininfarina Hybrid Smartwatch (seen here), we felt that the one weak spot with the design was the included leather strap. Well, as it turns out, there are stock strap options from Pininfarina that can drastically improve the watch. We’ve been spending some time with a Pininfarina Hybrid Smartwatch FKM Rubber strap, and it’s made a world of difference.
What’s wrong with the original strap?
Don’t get me wrong – a good leather strap can be a solid addition to just about any watch. With the Pininfarina Hybrid Smartwatch, though, you’ve got a fairly thick case with lugs that angle down. This helps keep the watch snug, but paired with the stock leather strap, it just felt top-heavy. Not to mention – if you’re going to track exercise, you really don’t want sweat soaking into the leather.
Pininfarina Hybrid Smartwatch FKM Rubber to the rescue
There are other OEM options available, but what we were quite interested to test out was the Pininfarina Hybrid Smartwatch FKM Rubber strap. These come in a handful of colors, and you can get the buckle in the same finish as the case of your watch.
The Pininfarina Hybrid Smartwatch FKM Rubber strap has the same lengths as the stock leather strap, but is definitely thicker. This leads to a more robust feel on the wrist. Visually, you’ve got a “bump up” in the center of the strap leading to the lugs, and it just looks the part. Then, with it being rubber, that means it won’t soak up sweat, and it’s easy to rinse off or even wash up whenever you want.
