Introducing the moVas Bronze Officer

When it comes to the watches that we bring to your attention, we generally like to point out watches that are currently available – I.E., something you can actually buy today. With the moVas Bronze Officer, I am taking a bit of a risk. I caught wind of this watch when a special newsletter subscriber email went out, for which there was a special “insider” pre-order sale kicking in. Given that there are only 50 pieces of this model being made (more on that in a minute), there is a chance that, when the pre-order opens up to the general public, there may not be any pieces left. Even so, this is a pretty interesting watch in my book, so I thought it was worthwhile bringing it to your attention.

Straton Vintage Driver, Get Your Motor Revving

“Driver” watches fill out an interesting style for me. Many of them look like divers, without the rotating bezel, or maybe aviators without some of the classic handset or marker cues. They are frequently loud, and they often times have racing stripes, for whatever reason (how many of us have cars with racing stripes?). But maybe because of the blend of styles, they do get my attention. On Kickstarter, the Straton Vintage Driver has already picked up a lot of attention, getting funded and blowing past their first two stretch goals in just their first weekend on line (with a Friday launch no less).

The August 2015 Giveaway: Titan Edge

Regardless, we are at a weekend, and that means we have our Saturday post, Watching the Web, where we look in on watch related posts on other sites, and take a look back at our own most popular recent posts. This week, Slate (a news site) ran an article on the surprising watch it thinks will revolutionize the Swiss Watch Industry, Worn & Wound’s looked at the Seiko X Nano Universe collection, and ABTW’s featured a write up of the Rpaige Crash of 29. It was not all that long ago that a dive watch from the Netherlands seemed like a rarity. As it turns out, there is a new brand starting up that also wants to offer you a Dutch dive watch. While the previous one we wrote about was firmly in the realm of luxury watches, the Van Speyk Dutch Diver is definitely of the more affordable variety.

Azula Watches, Weaving the Fabric of Time

Wait a minute, wait a minute – this is a post on a Kickstarter watch that is not written by Matt? That’s right, folks! Not to worry, he is still on the crowdfunding beat, this is just one that I took a particular shine to, so I jumped in to write it up. And yes, this is a project that cropped up before. That earlier project was trying to be a philanthropic effort, but Kickstarter does not allow those. Due to that, Azula Watch took a step back, rebranded and refocused, and came back with their watches. Without any further pre-amble, let’s jump in to see what the Azula Watch is all about.
