Here in the ‘States, it’s a long holiday weekend known as Labor Day Weekend. Rather than try to throw some half-baked articles at you, I decided instead to give you the gift of time.

It’s Sunday, so that means it’s time to turn our world to the history of watches. As with the last time I took this series up, I am going to target another roundup of sorts for you. Today we have a watch in the form of a snake, a history of dive watches (before dive watches existed), and a look at what separates automatic movements from manually wound ones.

Tactico Geomaster GMT, Spanish Infuences
It is not an every day occurrence, but more and more I am seeing established (albeit small) brands use crowd funding for the launch of a new product. Tactico is the latest to jump on this trend. Patrick looked at the second offering from this boutique Spanish watch maker back in 2012, and now there is a campaign on Kickstarter to get a variation on their third watch out to a larger audience. The Tactico Geomaster GMT watch is an automatic pilots watch with an ETA movement being produced in limited numbers.
Barrington Single Watch Winder, Because You Can’t Wear All Your Watches at Once
I went pretty quickly from a guy who owned a mechanical watch to a guy who owned too many mechanical watches. Not too many in an absolute sense (that would be crazy), but too many in the sense that I can’t keep them all wound by rotating through my collection. If this sounds similar, you need a watch winder. The good people at Barrington were nice enough to ship one over for me to check out, and I think that the Barrington Single Watch Winder is a real solid option for a single winder.
Graham Dives In with the Navy SEAL Foundation For A Special Chronofighter
Over the past year or so, I have come to appreciate the Graham Chronofighter, and have been fortunate to review a couple different variations. While the large trigger over on the left side of the case initially seems like it would be rather unwieldy, it works rather well in practice, and gives things a much smaller appearance when the watch peeks out from under a cuff. Now, they have released a new version of the Graham Chronofighter that is a collaboration with the Navy SEAL Foundation.

It is the start of a new month, which means it is time for the September 2015 giveaway, a Mr Jones Watches Sun and Moon Miyamoto. I did a quick review of the limited edition, and then the brand sent me the version that is in the permanent collection for a hands on review. If you are a fan of the various Mario Brothers video games, or just like whimsical watches, this would be a watch for you.
The Javelin Dayrunner Combines Two Watches In One
When it comes to smart watches, there is no denying the amount of weight the name the Apple Watch carries in the segment (even if there is some question as to how well it is selling). For me, wearing a second device (or something that completely displaces a standard watch) is just about a non-starter. When you get into things that add a phone connection to the strap (like we saw on this TokyoFlash), then the argument becomes a lot more compelling. I have a feeling that we will see more of this sort of combination, and the Javelin Dayrunner is one of the latest to come to my attention.
