Some Watch Deals on Touch of Modern

I am a fan of Touch of Modern, and have bought a number of items for myself and my house through the site, including a watch back before I started wring for WWR. The site, as I have mentioned here previously, is a members only sale site (join here if you are not a member) specializing in modern goods that skew toward a male audience. Sales are limited time, and frequently include watches. Right now, there are several watch deals on Touch of Modern, including Cobra de Calibre, Vintage Rolexes, and watches from Jean Marcel, Ballast, and Alessandro Baldieri.

Swatch Sistem51 Update, Something for Everyone

When Swatch debuted the Sistem51 automatic, I was excited about the prospect of a very affordable Swiss made automatic, but I was not all that excited by the design choices. The original four designs definitely showed the Swatch DNA, but they were not designs I would wear, other than as a novelty. With the Swatch Sistem51 update released earlier this year, there are 5 new watches in the family, really expanding the appeal.

Archimede Deck Watch, Hot Stuff

There is something just so lovely about a clean white watch with blued hands in my eyes, which is why I was immediately drawn to the Archimede Deck Watch, now with heat blued hands done in-house. German made, with an ETA hand wound movement, this classic design is a great looking watch, and I am guessing will make it into my Father’s Day recommendations.

CT Scuderia Watches on Touch of Modern, Timing is Everything

Patrick and I have been able to conduct hands-on reviews for a pair of of CT Scuderia watches out of the four reviews we have posted here on the site, and we both are on board with the brand’s signature bullhead design. Probably the one knock is that they are priced into the “aspirational range,” at least for my pocket book. Introducing the Frederique Constant Horological Smartwatch

When it comes to the world of smart watches, one of the big complaints I have heard (and read about) is that they simply are not designed to be appealing to those who appreciate watches. Many of them are gadgets first, and just happen to be able to be strapped to your wrist. That argument is losing a lot of steam now, especially with the announcement of the Frederique Constant Horological Smartwatch.

Mondaine Helvetica No 1 Smartwatch, Railway Approved

Ahead of its world premier at Basal 2015, The Swiss Railway Watch Company (and the company that sued Apple over it’s iPhone clock tile design) has announced a smartwatch. The Mondaine Helvetica No. 1 Smartwatch will be a connected analog watch with a sub dial used to track progress toward a goal.

Nevo Watch, Smart Enough

I am not a fan of the direction of most smart watches. I don’t need another screen on my wrist to give me my texts and emails. If the notification is so important, then I will look at my phone or computer. But I do see the utility in getting some notifications, especially if it is in a fairly unobtrusive manner. And this is where connected analog watches enter the field. Devices like the Nevo Watch connect to your smart phone and display limited information in the background, while the primary look of the watch is an analog watch.
