The CJR Watches Velocita, One Unique Bull

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

Chronographs are one of the more popular complications for watches, though their actual usefulness can be debatable. I have one chrono which I wear quite often, though I use the chronograph function fairly infrequently when it is on. As a timing device, I find that a rotating bezel is usually good enough to time when I put the meat in the smoker, when I need to get back to the parking meter, or how long I have until the laundry is done (have I missed anything?). But if you want a chronograph to actually time things, the bullhead arrangement, where the pushers are located at top of the watch, is a useful arrangement. Which brings me to the CJR Watches Velocita currently seeking funding on Kickstarter. CJR was nice enough to lend me their two prototypes for a hands on review before the funding period ends on August 20.

CT Scuderia Watches on Touch of Modern, Timing is Everything

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

Patrick and I have been able to conduct hands-on reviews for a pair of of CT Scuderia watches out of the four reviews we have posted here on the site, and we both are on board with the brand’s signature bullhead design. Probably the one knock is that they are priced into the “aspirational range,” at least for my pocket book. Well, for the next couple of days, there is a sale on CT Scuderia Watches on Touch of Modern, a members only sale-of-the-moment site we point you toward from time to time.

Watching the Web for October 11

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

Welcome back to our weekly installment, Watching the Web, where we have a quick look at some interesting watches and articles that have popped up over the last week (or so), as well as taking a second look at what some of our more popular articles this week were. Today, I will point you toward an open letter from Ariel at ABTW to the watch industry, and a review of a very cool bullhead pilot’s watch.

The CT Scuderia Dashboard: It’s a Car, It’s a Plane, It’s a Watch!

OK, maybe not a car or plane per se, but the Dashboard Series of watches from the Italian brand CT Scuderia it is bit of mash up between the ground transport styling that defines the brand and the iconic styling of the Flieger B-style, all in an attractive and very masculine watch. CT Scuderia was nice enough to loan me one of their watches for a bit, and I really did not want to send it back to them. I opted for what I thought was a bolder look, the black IP case with the black and white dial.
