The Hawker Hurricane has a certain spare beauty to it. Built by the British, this WWII fighter was already outdated…
The AVI-8 Hawker Hunter Automatic watch was as unknown to me as the 1950s British jet by the same name. This automatic watch does not disappoint in keeping with AVI-8’s aviation designs that look like the watch was ripped off the plane’s instrument panel and given a leather strap.
I am not sure why I was recently on a kick of reviewing chronographs, but I ended up with a couple of review chronos all in roughly the same time period. The AVI-8 Hawker Hunter was one that I was looking forward to reviewing, since I wear one of their watches quite a bit. I have an issue with the watch, but overall it is a comfortable, reliable military/aviation themed watch, and a good deal here in the US.
AVI-8 was nice enough to offer a AVI-8 Hawker Harrier II watch for a hands on review, and I was expecting to see it with the black dial, but instead I opened the watch and saw the green dial. As I mentioned in our August giveaway, this month marks three years since John took a flier on me and brought me on board to start reviewing and writing about watches. It’s been a fun ride, and to commemorate the actual day that my first article was published, I thought I’d get a quick AVI-8 giveaway on the books for you.
Just a quick update from AVI-8 winner Marko M. Looks like the watch is heading out on summer adventures with…
May has come and gone, which means it’s overdue that we announce the winner of the giveaway for an AVI-8 watch…
So, the other day I got an email from the winner of one of our previous AVI-8 giveaways. Todd and I had corresponded after he won, and he casually mentioned that he was a pilot, and would try to send a picture of the watch from the cockpit. Well, when someone tells me that, I generally think they’re flying something on the small side. Imagine my surprise to see the shots come in of something that definitely wasn’t a Cessna.
