Welcome once again (or just welcome if you are a first time reader) to our regular Saturday post, Watching the Web. Here, Matt and I take turns scouring the internet for interesting watch related articles we can point you towards, and we get a chance to crow about our own more popular posts over the last week or so, just in case you missed them. From our friends across the web, we’ll read about Eminem’s watches, learn about new color schemes from MCT, and have a look at the first women’s watch from Urwerk. From our own pages, we have an impressive (and inexpensive) diver, a watch that is two watches in one, and a sharp luxury watch.

A while back I took a look at the Mr Jones Watches Sun and Moon Miyamoto, which was a limited edition watch to honor the creator of the Super Mario games. At that point, we had covered more than a few Mr Jones Watches, but neither Patrick nor myself had been able to check out one in person. Well, a few emails later, a Mr Jones Watches Sun and Moon Miyamoto, now part of the regular collection, was on its way for me to check out. The bottom line: it is fun, well finished, and colorful.

Wingman Watches Aviation Designs Takes Off on Kickstarter

When I looked at the design of the new Wingman chronograph for sale on Kickstarter, I was taken with the simplicity of the design, and it looked like it was comfortable to wear. When I read the “story” behind the watch, I re-read the same thing I read over and over again with crowd funded watches, countless hours spent designing a quality watch that would be affordable, yadda, yadda, yadda. Then I got to the t-shirt they are selling. “…we only had 2 requirements: Have a simple design; Make it ridiculously comfortable.” To me, this should have been the guiding principle behind the Wingman Watches Aviation designs, because that is what I see when I look at the watch.

Azula Watches, Weaving the Fabric of Time

Wait a minute, wait a minute – this is a post on a Kickstarter watch that is not written by Matt? That’s right, folks! Not to worry, he is still on the crowdfunding beat, this is just one that I took a particular shine to, so I jumped in to write it up. And yes, this is a project that cropped up before. That earlier project was trying to be a philanthropic effort, but Kickstarter does not allow those. Due to that, Azula Watch took a step back, rebranded and refocused, and came back with their watches. Without any further pre-amble, let’s jump in to see what the Azula Watch is all about.

Reviewing the Æther Watch Co. AE01

Prior to be contacted for this review, I was blissfully unaware of Æther Watch Co., which is surprising, given the level of quality that I saw in my time with the watch they sent over. Hailing from Phoenix, AZ, Æther Watch Co. started up shop in 2012, designing watches here in the USA, with assembly happening in Pforzheim, Germany. While they only have two models currently on offer (and one is a limited edition), what they have created for their entry-level piece is certainly an excellent first outing. Without further ado, let’s dig in to the Æther Watch Co. Æ01.
