Uhuru Watches is looking for input on the Ukhozi Pilot

Patrick Kansa By Patrick Kansa

There seems to be a run on watch brands looking for input from their customers. It is a benefit of this new watch economy that allows the smaller indie brands to reach out directly to the consumer. We saw it before with both Prometheus LINK and Janis Trading LINK, and now we’re seeing it from Uhuru Watches. There was an update that came out earlier this week on their new Ukhozi Pilot watch that also served as a method for asking for that input. Before we get to that, let’s see what the

Watching the Web for February 20, 2016

Patrick Kansa By Patrick Kansa

Yes, that’s right – it’s time for our weekly wrapup series, Watching the Web. Here, we look though some of the other watch-centric web sites and highlight a few that we think merit your attention. We also get to show you what was most popular over the last week or so on our own site. From the wide web, we have the Bovet Recital 18 Shooting Star, the new Seiko Prospex divers, and a Hoptroff review (which are few and far between). From our articles, we have articles about the Ventus Black Kite, the new ManchesterWatchWorks Armada, and the Deep Blue Sea Quest that are top of the charts.

Cobra de Calibre Crossfire, I Told You to Back This Watch

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

I told you guys to back this project back in November. Well, good things come to thee who wait, because the Cobra de Calibre Crossfire, is currently back on Kickstarter, at a reduced price (and fully funded at this point). I have looked at a number of Cobra de Calibre watches, and keep saying “hey you should check this guy’s work out.” There great success stories where one project turned into two or three and then into a full blown brand, and I am hoping that John Lee will developed a cult following that funds all his projects.

Hopefully our East Coast readers are dug out from last week’s snowpocalypse, but no one need venture outdoors to enjoy our Sunday feature, Watch Video Rewind, where we look for cool watch related videos from around the web, and bring them to your attention. Yesterday in Watching the Web, I had a couple of posts related to the recently completed SIHH show, so today’s video Rewind will highlight some video of the show, and some of the really cool watches that came out of it.

Watching the Web for January 30, 2016

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

It seems like just yesterday that 2016 came upon us, and it is already 1/12 of the way into the books. So today I will present our final Watching the Web for the month of January, our weekly look at all things horological on the web, and a recap of what you found most interesting on our own site. Casting my web out to other sites, A Blog to Watch takes us to SIHH, A Timely Perspective shows us another piece from the show, and Monochrome shows off the very cool MCT Sequential One. From our own site, we have reviews of the Lum-Tec combat B33 GMT, the Minuteman Independence, and the LIV Genesis X1-A.

Introducing the Projects Watches Scallop Watch

Patrick Kansa By Patrick Kansa

You know who we haven’t heard from in awhile? Projects Watches, that’s who. Late last year we had a good spate of coverage on different watches they’ve released, and we even ran a giveaway for a Michael Graves-designed Newark (LINK to original writeup). Well, they are back again with another Graves design, but this time this is a watch definitely intended for the fairer sex. Let’s have a look at what the Projects Watches Scallop Watch has in store.

Watching the Web for January 23, 2016

Patrick Kansa By Patrick Kansa

Welcome back to our weekly Saturday feature, Watching the Web, where we highlight interesting watch related posts that we come across on other sites, as well as take a moment to look back at our own popular recent articles. From the wide world of watches, we have a collectors take on a Bugatti watch, a writeup on the resurgence of pocket watches, and an opinion piece on what Instagram is doing to watch collectors. From our own site, we have the Deep Blue DayNight, a three-for AVI-8 review, and some old-school Seikos.
