With watches, we are often curious about those that come from countries that are not particularly known for their watchmaking, or perhaps as a way of diversifying a collection to represent all those different countries. Estonia is a small Baltic country that really is not known for watches. We did review one a while ago, and now we have another one to add to the list of those you could be on the look for – the Wõitleja, by Estonia1918.

The awkward-to-pronounce name aside, what we have here is an interesting watch. What makes it unusual is, well, almost everything….
Imagine the classic shot of an old world map, with a DC-3 propeller plane and a dashed line trailing behind it showing the journey. If I were making a promotion video of this watch, I would totally use that shot with the line going from Singapore to Switzerland, with a fade to the Jubileon Superellipse watch on the wrist of a gentleman holding a glass of scotch while traveling first-class.
Spinnaker is a company with a large catalogue of watches. They approached us to offer a few for review, and we said yes.
Here’s how this part of the process works. Some enterprising soul will email us and offer a review, and we’ll talk amongst ourselves about all the things right with what we see, and all the things wrong with it, and then Patrick will say we pass on it. He’s often right. We set out to only review the best of the best, the things that appeal to us.

Hey, guys and gals, ready to hear about another new watch brand that’s starting up? Wait, wait, don’t run away. What if I told you it was all American-made (not just built in the States)? Ok, ok, well, how about if it managed to recycle not just old pocket watch movements (that’s how you can get an American-made movement), but also the material used for the case? Well, then, hopefully we have your interest, as the new Arcane Watches look to be interesting.
