Introducing a new Estonian watch, the Wõitleja

Patrick Kansa By Patrick Kansa

With watches, we are often curious about those that come from countries that are not particularly known for their watchmaking, or perhaps as a way of diversifying a collection to represent all those different countries. Estonia is a small Baltic country that really is not known for watches. We did review one a while ago, and now we have another one to add to the list of those you could be on the look for – the Wõitleja, by Estonia1918.

Watching the Web for August 20, 2016

Patrick Kansa By Patrick Kansa

Welcome back to our regular weekend feature, Watching the Web. In this series, we take a look back at interesting articles from across the wider web of watch sites, as well as highlighting some of the most read articles from our own sites. From our friends in the world of watch writing, we have a crowd-funded smart watch, the sale of Glycine, a crazy dial color from Armida, and some votes for the ugliest watches out there. From our own pages, we have our review of the new NTH Subs, Vario Straps, and the latest from Brew Watch.

Jubileon Superellipse, a Swiss Made watch by way of Singapore

Victor Marks By Victor Marks

Imagine the classic shot of an old world map, with a DC-3 propeller plane and a dashed line trailing behind it showing the journey. If I were making a promotion video of this watch, I would totally use that shot with the line going from Singapore to Switzerland, with a fade to the Jubileon Superellipse watch on the wrist of a gentleman holding a glass of scotch while traveling first-class.

Spinnaker Watches: Hands-on

Victor Marks By Victor Marks

Spinnaker is a company with a large catalogue of watches. They approached us to offer a few for review, and we said yes.

Here’s how this part of the process works. Some enterprising soul will email us and offer a review, and we’ll talk amongst ourselves about all the things right with what we see, and all the things wrong with it, and then Patrick will say we pass on it. He’s often right. We set out to only review the best of the best, the things that appeal to us.

Watching the web for July 16, 2016

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

Welcome to Watching the Web for July 16, our mid-July foray into watch related articles and watch reviews we find across these inter-webs. This week, I wanted to point out a Prometheus diver, a “value” dress watch, and an interesting woman’s watch, all excellent articles hosted on other watch sites (yes, there are other watch sites). We also get to crow about the articles we write which are popular, is I will point you to our posts on the Timemachinist Naval Destroyer, all that is wrong with watch payola, and the Steinhart Ocean 1 in bronze.

Introducing Arcane Watches

Patrick Kansa By Patrick Kansa

Hey, guys and gals, ready to hear about another new watch brand that’s starting up? Wait, wait, don’t run away. What if I told you it was all American-made (not just built in the States)? Ok, ok, well, how about if it managed to recycle not just old pocket watch movements (that’s how you can get an American-made movement), but also the material used for the case? Well, then, hopefully we have your interest, as the new Arcane Watches look to be interesting.

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

That you all for popping in to check out this week’s Watch Video Rewind, where we bring you videos on watch related topis we feel are of interest. Today, I am going to follow the MB&F rabbit hoe a little deeper with a look at their clocks as well.
