Introducing the Dubey & Schaldenbrand Coeur Blanc

Patrick Kansa By Patrick Kansa

We’ve featured Dubey & Schaldenbrand on these pages before, bringing attention to their luxury timepieces (link to review). Well, their latest model takes things in a much different direction than we’ve seen from them previously, with a watch that practically looks like it’s made of diamond. Now, for those who know me (or have been reading here for some time), you know that I’m not normally a fan of flashy watches. Sure, I appreciate some polished surfaces and bevels that catch the light to liven up a piece, but I’ve never found myself drawn to a watch that featured gems (diamonds or otherwise) as a way of catching the light.

Kickstart a Minimalist Chronograph

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

Talley & Twine wants to upgrade your style. They want you to buy a watch from the “World’s Best Dressed Watch Company.” Now, I am going to say that it is pretty unlikely that Talley & Twine is the world’s best dressed watch company. Maybe they are, but I have my doubts. Buying a watch from them will not put you on a list of 10 best dressed gentlemen. But the Worley Chronograph that is available now on Kickstarter is a pretty nice looking watch. I would hazard that it could possibly make you a better dressed, depening on what else you might have on your wrist.

A Wooden Arrow

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

I am a fan of watches made from alternative materials, and have always likes wooden watches, though I have yet to pull the trigger on one myself. A new watch project on kickstarter, The Arrow Project Watch, is an easy way to jump on the wooden watch trend yourselves. The watch itself is a basic quartz three hander with date, styled like a diver. The movement is not specified, so it is pretty likely that the watch is not going to contain a name brand movement, especially not for $99 Australian Dollars ($90 US), plus shipping.

Bulova Marine Star 98B177 Review

Patrick Kansa By Patrick Kansa

Within watch brands, you’ll find a wide variety of watches covering different styles and tastes. Less common is that variation within a product lineup, but for Bulova, that’s exactly what we have with their Marine Star collection. While there are dressier pieces, and ones that have chronograph complications, today, we’ll be looking at something that embodies the sport watch ethos.

Devon Goes for the Gold

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

The Devon Tread watch was one of the first of the way out there modern watches that I found absolutely fascinating and drool worthy. The First Tread was a modern engineering marvel, ready to be worn by captains of industry and political movers and shakers, but it also had an ascetic that would feel at home on the wrist of a steam-punk enthusiast.

Bronze is not just for 3rd Place

Matt Himmelstein By Matt Himmelstein

A new Kickstarter campaign is starting from Zelos, offering a 100M water resistant diver with a couple of unique twists. Common to the line is an internally rotating bezel, which I am seeing on a few higher end dive watches, but not in this price and feature range yet. What is most unique in a relatively inexpensive watch like this is the choice of a bronze case as an alternative to the 316 stainless that is also offered. Fitting for the materials of choice, the watch is named the Helmsman.
