For all the focus we have on affordable watches here at WWR, digital watches are something we do not commonly see on our pages. Some of this is due to the fact that we (watch lovers) tend to be drawn more to analog pieces, and some of it is due to the fact that most digital watches are fairly bland or utilitarian. Then we come across something like the Void V01MKII, and we have something that is visually appealing.
The last time we took a look at the James McCabe catalog, I found the Lurgan to be a bit of a mixed bag, but the Master was definitely more up my alley. When taking a look at what they might have interesting for a review, then, it was not much of a surprise that the James McCabe Belfast grabbed by attention. When it comes to RJ-Romain Jerome, they do certainly have a distinctive way of going about things. They like to create watches with unique materials (say, using metal from the Titanic) and interesting dials (my favorite? The Batman DNA, of course!) Often, the focus is on the exterior of the watch, with the case and/or dial taking pride of place. Well, this definitely changes around with the RJ-Romain Jerome Skylab 48. Sure, the case is very familiar for the brand, but the star of this show is the movement.
Back when I reviewed the Filson Journeyman GMT, I noted that, while I liked the watch, the world timer bezel was rather difficult to manipulate (due to a combination of a tough spring and not much area to grip). Today, we are going to take a look at a version that has made some improvements to that bezel – the Shinola Rambler.

I have to admit, I am certainly an appreciator of watches that embody symmetry. While no watch is going to end up being perfectly balanced (often, if north-south is good, east-west will be off, or vice versa), there are more than a handful that do certainly embody this approach to watch design. One of the latest of these that caught my eye is the Mühle-Glashütte Teutonia II Großdatum Chronometer.

While they are, at their heart, Shinola watches, they have a different look and feel to them that switching to the Filson name allows (sort of how auto manufacturers go for different styles on the same basic platform across brands).
