Whether you got a new watch to close out the year or not, odds are that if you’re reading this site, you’ve got more than one watch kicking around. A watch box can get things tidy on a dresser, but what if you want – or need – something more portable? That’s where an item like the MOZSLY Travel Watch Roll comes into play.

MOZSLY Travel Watch Roll: what it is

When you hear the term “watch roll”, you’re probably thinking of one of two styles. The first is a piece of heavier duty fabric with pockets and flaps to hold the watches in place, and then is rolled up for a tidy, compact package. Those are great for saving space, but they don’t offer a lot of padding to your precious cargo.

On the other hand, a watch roll like the MOZSLY Travel Watch Roll will offer plenty of protection to your watches, albeit at the expense of some space in your bag (presuming you’re traveling with it). We had their large size come in for review, which means that there are three slots for storing watches (they have options for 1, 2, 3, 4, or 6 watches in a variety of styles).

How the watches are stored

A number of watch rolls that I’ve experienced either will have the cushion just floating in the case (when it’s a single watch version), or sometimes it will rely on snaps to keep things in place. Both can work, but I find that the first version can have a watch banging around, and the snap version is good until one side of the snap comes loose from the roll. Then things aren’t great.

On the other hand, the MOZSLY Travel Watch Roll relies on a notched slide-in method that – in conjunction with the closed snap flap – holds the watches tidily in place. There is still some squish factor on the cushions, so you can get a smaller watch on and in place. How well does this friction slot setup work? Well, let’s just say this: I’ve seen a single-slot Girard-Perregaux watch case that uses a very similar setup.

Using the roll

Using the MOZSLY Travel Watch Roll is pretty simple. Unsnap the top cover, pull out the cushions, and put your watches on it. Slide them in place, snap the cover closed, and you’re off to the races. Makes it easy to keep your watches organized – and protected – in your bag while you’re traveling, as well as when you’re at your destination.

For those not traveling, it can also be a handy watch to keep your collection tidy even at home. With this protected roll style, it’s easy to pop your watches into a sock drawer, or even have them on your desk so they’re ready to grab-and-go when it’s time to head out the door.

As we mentioned, there are a number of different styles and sizes available. This larger MOZSLY Travel Watch Roll that we reviewed retails for $69.99, but is currently on sale for $55.99 (other sizes and materials range from $49.99 to $156.99). Of note, if you’re looking for some other watch-adjacent content, they have a blog that covers a wide range of things, and we’d of course recommend Knapsacknews.
